As this lung disease progresses, patients with COPD often require a prescription for supplemental oxygen to help maintain their lung health. However, living a normal & active life can be challenging for oxygen users. Typical Portable oxygen concentrators (POC) offer some relief, but their therapy output is limited and devices are often bulky and heavy, calling embarrassing attention to user’s health challenges when out in public. Stationary units have a higher oxygen output, but are not designed for portability, preventing people from enjoying activities outside the home.
As the smallest and lightest POC weighing less than 5 pounds, SimplyGo Mini enables its users to continue living full, active lives.
One of the challenge in this project is to combine hard goods and soft goods to ensure the users have optimal freedom and comfort using the device. The carrying cases developed, include a shoulder bag and a hands-free ventilated backpack, providing options for using the concentrator around the house, on the go for short periods of activity, or traveling for longer period of time.
Both carry cases are required to remove the social stigma while still maintain all of the comfort and functional needs. The shoulder bag is ideal for shorter trips. It allows for taking the bag on and off easily, and the open top allows quick access to the UI. It is in neutral overall color with a modern form hugging neoprene.
