Completed through an internship in Fiat Centro Stile in Torino, Italy 2008, this project was to explore interior design for compact B segment based on Lancia Musa Platform.
My design was centered around bringing comfort and spacious feeling into a compact size car. Instead of creating separate elements such as center console, door panel, seats..etc. , I looked into the continuity of surface between different elements to create a cozy environment; the use of layering and floating structure in control panel and seats to save space underneath; and the application of two tone color scheme to re-configured the space: Major interactive areas are highlighted in light color while the rest are concealed in dark. This contrast creates focus, guides people to things they interact the most and also makes the interior space look cleaner, lighter and roomier.
I landed the design solution by first looking into the un-meet needs in the compact B segment car and gathering inspirations from other design fields especially modern interior design.
